The Nakata Brophy Short Fiction and Poetry Prize for Young Indigenous Writers is open until February 2, 2020.
No entry fee.
The prize will be awarded to the best poem by an Indigenous writer who is 30 years or younger at the closing date of the competition. Entrants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
First prize includes: $5000, publication in Overland’s print magazine, and a writing residency (of up to three months) at Trinity College, at the University of Melbourne.
Judges: Evelyn Araluen and Gayle Allan (Trinity College)
Submit poems of up to 80 lines.
