The 2026 Nature Writing Prize is open for entries.
Submission Guidelines
- Theme: Writing of place set in an Australian landscape
- Length: 3,000 – 5,000 word essay
- Open only to AU residents, aged 18 plus
Entry fee:
- Australian Book Review Subscriber discounted entry: $25
- Standard Entry with Australian Book Review Four-Month Digital Subscription: $25 entry fee + $5 subscription fee
Prizes:
- Major Prize: $8,000 and winning essay published in January / February 2027 issue of Australian Book Review
- Highly Commended: Rosina Joy Buckman Award – $1,000
Deadline: 5 pm AEST, 23 September, 2026
