Her first novel, Elizabeth and Zenobia, was shortlisted for the Text Prize and the Readings Prize and was a CBCA Notable Book, as was her second book, The Republic of Birds. Her third novel, The Hotel Witch will be released in February 2023. She has taught creative writing for adults and children in Brisbane, Berlin, and London.

Your tutor will email the first module to you on the course start date, and you can expect a new module to be released weekly in the form of text lessons (keep an eye on your SPAM folder to ensure you don’t miss it).

Lesson Six: Mistakes to Avoid in a Short Story
The final lesson walks you through the mistakes to avoid in the form, such as thematic balance and common tropes and cliches. It also shows you how to effectively edit your work for publication.
